Is there anything more delicious than a serving of spaghetti? But instead of the usual Bolognese or Napoli variants, you should now try out another classic.

Have you heard of Spaghetti Cacio e Pepe? This classic of Italian cuisine can often not be found on any menu. You only need three ingredients to prepare it - and you can enjoy your delicious pasta.

Spaghetti Cacio e Pepe: You should definitely try this pasta recipe

It sounds simple at first, but it is not entirely without it and takes a little practice: the right mixture and the use of high-quality ingredients are important with this recipe. As the name Spaghetti Cacio e Pepe suggests, the three ingredients are spaghetti, cheese and pepper. But not just any cheese: You need a high-quality Pecorino Romano - preferably from an Italian delicatessen shop - and fresh pasta.

Here you will find the list of ingredients with quantities :

  • 200 g pecorino cheese
  • 3 teaspoons of black peppercorns
  • 400 grams of spaghetti

The preparation takes just a few steps - but the details are what count

The peppercorns are lightly toasted in a pan without fat and pounded in a mortar.

The cheese is finely grated and placed in a large, shallow bowl. The ground pepper is added.

Cook the spaghetti in a saucepan with lightly salted, boiling water and then add a little pasta water to the bowl with pecorino cheese and pepper. The pasta water is used to make a thick sauce from the cheese and pepper mixture . You can add more pasta water as needed.

Mix the spaghetti with the sauce until the cheese is melted and evenly distributed. You can already enjoy your pasta!

A few additional tips: When cooking, make sure that the pasta water is not too hot - otherwise the cheese will clump together. And when serving the spaghetti, you can add a little pepper to it.

If it doesn't work the first time, don't worry. The dish usually tastes good anyway - and you finally have the opportunity to try it many more times until you find the right mix for yourself.
